Motorcyclist in Orem, Utah grabs coffee cup from rear bumper of moving SUV
We file this one under "flirting with disaster".
Have you seen this video from 28 year old motorcyclist Nate Bos, shot from his helmet mounted GoPro Hero3 on Geneva Road in Orem, Utah?
The HD video shows what happened back in May when Bos, riding his 2003 Honda CBR 600RR, spotted a coffee mug teetering precariously on the back bumper of a Ford Explorer. Bos told ABC News recently that he "knew right away" when he saw the cup that he was going to give it back to the lady driving the SUV. Bos uses his 10 years of riding experience to glide up close enough to the bumper to retrieve the cup and then manages to ride alongside the Explorer long enough for the driver to notice he has her cup. The driver slows down a bit, rolls down the window, takes the cup and indicates that it was her daughter that left it on the bumper. The driver of the SUV thanks Bos and both continue on without stopping!
The video has gone viral with more than a million views after someone posted it to the popular internet sharing site Reddit. And the recent interview with ABC News added even more interest in the video.
In a "do as I say, not as I do" moment, Bos wisely admits that he "wouldn't recommend anybody else sneaking up on a car like that."
Watch the daring rescue of the cup, the hand off and then a little celebratory "hand dance" at the end:
