2014 UVU Auto Expo and Swap Meet at Thanksgiving Point


If you love vintage cars and hot rods the place to be tomorrow, May 17th is the UVU Auto Expo - happening at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi, Utah. 

This is a huge event with close to 800 vintage autos and hot rods spread across the lawns of Thanksgiving Point.  What started many years ago with a display of about 70 cars has grown into one of the largest and most popular street rod and classic car exhibits in Utah. The Auto Expo is expected to attract as many as 10,000 spectators.

For 27 years the Utah Valley University annual Auto Expo has been showcasing the institution's continued presence in the auto trades and has been providing revenue to fund scholarships.

WHEN:  Auto Expo -  Sat. May 17 - 7am to 5:30 pm 

             Swap Meet - Friday, May 16 - noon - 4pm  and  Saturday, May 17 - 7 am - 4 pm

WHERE:  Thanksgiving Point - Electric Park 3003 N. Thanksgiving Way, Lehi, Utah


The UVU Auto Expo lists this as their mission:

1. To provide funding for scholarships for UVU students involved in Automotive Training Programs.

2. Preservation of the automotive tradition through showcasing quality vintage and modern vehicles and workmanship.

3. To prepare and train people for a career in the Automotive Field.

UVU Auto Expo & Swap Meet to Feature Over 700 Cars



One of the largest car shows in Utah takes place this Saturday, May 19, from 7 a.m - 5 p.m. at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi.   The UVU Auto Expo and Swap Meet will have more than 700 cars on display and is expected to draw more than 12,000 people to Thanksgiving Point.   This year's event is the 25th anniversary of the car show and swap meet.  Proceeds from the event benefit students in the Department of Automotive Technology at Utah Valley University.

This year there will be some really special vehicles on display including the Batmobile (from the 1989 movie Batman starring Michael Keaton in the lead and Jack Nicholson as The Joker) and the 1964 Cadillac Coupe DeVille customized by Kindig-it Design for Olympic champion Apolo Anton Ohno.  Also on display will be the Bonneville Salt Flats racer known as the "City Of Salt Lake".

This year's event will also feature special guest Dennis Gage from the TV show My Classic Car on the Speed channel.

Admission to the car show is $5 per person with children under 5 admitted for free.

UVU is also sponsoring an automotive swap meet at Thanksgiving Point (admission is free) from noon - 4 p.m. on Friday, May 18 and 7 a.m - 4 p.m. on Saturday.
