Brad Paisley Silverado Debuts as SEMA Concept Truck

Chevrolet has recently revealed several new concept trucks and SUVs for SEMA, the annual convention of automotive performance parts and styling accessories happening now in Las Vegas.

Country music and Silverado fans alike will enjoy this Brad Paisley Signature Silverado.

This is how GM describes the Brad Paisley Signature Silverado:

Like his music, the concept vehicle country star Brad Paisley collaborated on with Chevrolet designers blends tasteful country style with an edge, featuring a custom paint job, high-performance accents, a lowered stance and – no surprise here – an amped-up sound system.

The custom-blended paint scheme incorporates Paisley’s logo as a styling element. It’s accented with a performance-oriented hood extractor vent and tailgate aero lip, black tubular assist steps, Chevrolet Accessories 22-inch wheels – custom-painted matte black – Chevrolet Accessories chrome tow hooks and a spray-in bedliner with an integrated Chevrolet bowtie logo in the bed.

The stance is lowered two inches and red brake calipers are visible through the black wheels. There’s also a Borla performance exhaust system.

Inside, Paisley’s Silverado is equipped with a rear-seat entertainment system and a Kicker subwoofer that enhances the audio system with richer sound. Paisley also helped select the cabin’s color and trim, which includes blue suede inserts in the black leather seats – accented with blue stitching – and additional anodized blue interior trim.

You can catch Brad co-hosting (with Carrie Underwood) the Country Music Association Awards Show (the CMAs) tonight on ABC.

What do you think?   Are you a fan of this 2014 Brad Paisley Chevy Silverado?

First Commercial for the All New 2013 Dodge Dart

The first commercial for the all new Dodge Dart, called "How to Change Cars Forever", is scheduled to debut tonight during the Major League Baseball All-Star Game.  New England Patriot's quarterback Tom Brady makes a cameo appearance in the 90 second spot as the chosen celebrity spokesperson for the Dart, indicating he will be making more appearances in future Dodge ads.  The Jay-Z and Kanye West song No Church In The Wild is used as the soundtrack for the fast paced, fast talking ad that shows in quick progression, and with a healthy dose of humor, the steps from drawing board to a Dodge car.

According to the press release from Dodge: "How to Change Cars Forever" is a rapid-fire "instructional" spot on how to make a world-class car today, providing an inside look into the Dodge brand's approach to designing and engineering its much anticipated entry into the highly competitive compact car segment.

The Dodge Dart is the first jointly engineered vehicle from the marriage of Chrysler and majority owner Fiat. Offered in five trim levels, the 2013 Dodge Dart starts at a baseline price of $15,995.  The Dart will be competing, mostly for young buyers, with the Chevrolet Cruze, Ford Focus, Honda Civic, Hyundai Elantra, Nissan Sentra and Toyota Corolla.

The all new 2013 Dodge Dart has been rolling in to dealerships over the last few weeks.

Jay Leno Takes a Look at the 2013 Scion FR-S

An affordable sports car built from the ground up to be a sports car, the new Scion FR-S got the once over and apparent thumbs up from Jay Leno recently.

With a price around $25,000, the heritage inspired FR-S was designed to easily go between the road and the track. With a 200 hp Subaru built Boxer engine the rear wheel drive Scion FR-S is certainly not a muscle car, but with a super low center of gravity is plenty fun to drive.  Jay says he expects the FR-S will be a vehicle, much like the Corvette or Harley Davidson, that people will want to personalize and accessorize with aftermarket items.

Jack Hollis, VP and General Manager of Scion, joins Jay in his garage and on the road for this episode of Jay Leno's Garage:

Stylish Vintage Performance Cars to be displayed at UMFA

We are really looking forward to this exhibit at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts!

"Speed:  The Art of the Performance Automobile" will be opening at the UMFA on the University of Utah campus June 2nd and will showcase some of the most beautiful automobiles in the world.

A collection of vehicles that are impressive for both their performance prowess and their style, these automobiles, many of them one of a kind, should prove to be a great draw throughout the summer for Utahns and any car enthusiasts visiting the Salt Lake City area.

Some of the vehicles on display include:

- The Mormon Meteor III  - A car that set more long distance land speed records than any other car in history.  This vehicle, driven by Ab Jenkins, was the last Duesenberg ever built.

- A Ferrari 375MM owned by Ingrid Bergmann and Roberto Rossellini

- A 1957 Jaguar XK-SS roadster - one of only 16 built and this one originally owned by Hollywood film star Steve McQueen.

- 1952 Chet Herbert "BEAST III" Streamliner - This Chrysler Hemi powered streamliner was the fastest car in America in 1952, topping 235 miles per hour.

Take at look at this video from KSL to get a peek at some of the other vehicles as they were being loaded in to the exhibit:

"Speed: The Art of the Performance Automobile" runs from June 2nd through September 16 at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts.

UMFA is located at 410 Campus Center Drive on the University of Utah campus.

Tickets for the exhibit are on sale now and are $18 for adults, $13 for youth (14-17) and seniors, and $3 for kids (3-13).

Kindig-It Design on Season Premiere of Hot Rod TV

We had the pleasure of meeting custom car designer/builder Dave Kindig at the Last Call VW Car Show last summer where he had his custom 1962 Volkswagen bus on display.  Since then we have become big fans of the beautiful and amazing works of art coming from Dave's award winning shop over at Kindig-It Design.

That is why we will definitely be watching the Speed Channel on Monday night, April 23rd, at 8pm MT for the Season Premiere episode of Hot Rod TV.  This episode will feature Salt Lake City's Kindig-It Design as it prepared vehicles for the annual SEMA show, including the show stopping 1964 Cadillac Deville convertible Dave customized for eight time Olympic champion Apolo Ohno.

Mirror, Mirror On the Car...Don't Look Now, It's A Pop Star

Okay, it's Justin Bieber so a lot of people are going to want to look, but it might hurt your eyes!

As we mentioned a few weeks ago, Justin Bieber was gifted with a Fisker Karma live on the Ellen show for his 18th birthday and the Canadian pop-star didn't waste any time handing over the luxury hybrid to West Coast Customs for some style changes.   None too subtle style changes as it turns out. It's been hard to miss The Bieb driving around L.A. recently in the blindingly shiny chrome wrapped Karma with matte black 22 inch custom wheels and strips of LED lights under the chassis.

We just wonder if the car gets cracked in an accident, similar to what happened last year in his Ferrari, will he be looking at 7 years of bad karma?

Fisker Karma: A Surprise Gift for Justin Bieber

Lots of guys probably dream of getting a super hot looking sports car for their 18th birthday, but if your Justin Bieber those kind of dreams can come true. The pop idol was gifted with a new $100,000 Fisker Karma hybrid electric car recently on the Ellen show.  Bieber's manager Scott "Scooter" Braun presented the surprise present, a gift from Braun and Bieber's music biz mentor Usher, saying:

"You work really really hard. I always yell at you, 'Don't get anything flashy!' You know, we're not about that. Be humble, be humble. And I kind of broke my own rule. We wanted to make sure since you love cars, that when you're on the road you are always environmentally friendly. And we decided to get you a car that would make you stand out on the road. I think you know where I'm going, and you're kind of freaking out right now. So, Justin...a very hard to get car, that's a Fisker Karma."

Bieber joins a select group of environmentally friendly Karma owners, including Leonardo DiCaprio.  The positive publicity couldn't come at a better time for Fisker. The company has dealt with a stream of challenges recently including delayed production, recalls, and financial insecurity.

Chris Russell, General Manager with Fisker Salt Lake gave us an up close look at the Fisker Karma recently at the Utah International Auto Expo.  A super sexy ride.
