Stylish Vintage Performance Cars to be displayed at UMFA

We are really looking forward to this exhibit at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts!

"Speed:  The Art of the Performance Automobile" will be opening at the UMFA on the University of Utah campus June 2nd and will showcase some of the most beautiful automobiles in the world.

A collection of vehicles that are impressive for both their performance prowess and their style, these automobiles, many of them one of a kind, should prove to be a great draw throughout the summer for Utahns and any car enthusiasts visiting the Salt Lake City area.

Some of the vehicles on display include:

- The Mormon Meteor III  - A car that set more long distance land speed records than any other car in history.  This vehicle, driven by Ab Jenkins, was the last Duesenberg ever built.

- A Ferrari 375MM owned by Ingrid Bergmann and Roberto Rossellini

- A 1957 Jaguar XK-SS roadster - one of only 16 built and this one originally owned by Hollywood film star Steve McQueen.

Take at look at this video from KSL to get a peek at some of the other vehicles as they were being loaded in to the exhibit:

MLB Pitcher Keith Foulke's Nephew Displays Devotion to Boston Red Sox on His Mazda 3

It's not unusual to see someone displaying their devotion to a sports team with a decal on their car window or bumper, but David Madsen of Spanish Fork has taken it a step farther. He has added eye catching red accents to his white Mazda 3 to show how much he loves the Boston Red Sox.  He tells us he has been a lifelong fan and has given similar treatment to every car he's owned.

David even has a family connection to the Boston Red Sox - his uncle Keith Foulke pitched for the Red Sox in every game of the World Series when they swept the Series back in October of 2004.

In this video you can see Foulke make the final out of that World Series and hear the famous call from Fox Sports commentator Joe Buck.

2012 Nissan Altima: Best Buy at Tim Dahle Nissan, Sandy, UT

Click any image to enlarge
With the Nissan Altima being one of the perennial top sellers year after year, Nissan is definitely doing a lot of things right with the Altima.  This sporty, safe and value packed sedan is one of Utah's favorites.  A few weeks ago we first told you about some amazing deals going on right here in Utah on the new 2012 Nissan Altimas and this week we are back with more on this incredible offer!

With value pricing on the 2012 Nissan Altima starting at just $16,490 and gas mileage of up to 32 miles per gallon this is a vehicle Utah families find very attractive.  Whether it's driving the kids to baseball or soccer practice during the day or a stylish night on the town the Altima has just the right amount of sporty flare and is a great choice among mid-sized sedans.

One of the features that sets the Altima apart from others in its class is the continuously variable automatic transmission or CVT.  The CVT uses an ingenious steel belt/pulley system to move up and down the gear ratio in continuously smooth motion. There is no “shifting” in the conventional sense of the word, so there is no "gear hunting" and momentary loss of power that you get when a traditional transmission shifts gears.  The innovative CVT reduces heat and friction in the transmission improving overall durability of the transmission and the lighter weight CVT also adds to better performance and fuel economy.  A push-button ignition comes standard on all Altimas.

The Altima offers many different option packages to suit almost any need. The Value Package includes Bluetooth hands-free phone connectivity, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, and HomeLink. Bluetooth is now standard on the 3.5 SR and available on the 2.5 S.

A Convenience Plus package adds a power sliding moonroof, dual-zone automated climate controls, and turn signals in the side mirrors.  Bose premium sound, USB/iPod connectivity and XM satellite radio are features easily added to make your time in the car a true pleasure.  This package features a 4.3 inch screen that also provides the display for the backup camera which is an amazingly useful safety feature.

And a technology package is where you will find the luxury of a 6.5-inch touch-screen navigation system with XM NavTraffic and weather, Bluetooth audio streaming, and in-dash DVD video playback. The Nissan hard drive navigation system is one of the most user friendly navigation systems available on any vehicle out there.  So there is a complete and diverse range of features available for you in the Altima.

The top selling 2012 Nissan Altima is available right now at Tim Dahle Nissan in Sandy starting at just $16,490.

Right now you can lease the 2012 Nissan Altima for as little as $169 per month for 24 months with just $2999 down, OAC.

Tim Dahle Nissan in Sandy is dedicated to being the top dealer in the area for customer service with the Best Customer Service Guarantee.  They will take care of you during the entire purchasing process and beyond.

The in house financing options at Tim Dahle Nissan are phenomenal and available for every need.  Good credit, bad credit...whatever your credit situation might be right now they have a finance option that is right for you. That even includes No Money Down options!

Hyundai Adds 877 Jobs to Meet Record Sales of Elantras and Sonatas

For over a year now both the Hyundai Sonata and Elantra have been selling like proverbial hotcakes, with dealers across the country complaining they could sell more cars if they could get them.  A local dealer is reportedly selling the vehicles right off the truck as they are being delivered.

Autoworkers at Hyundai's plant in Alabama were already working overtime schedules to try to keep up with demand, but earlier this week came the announcement that the plant will add a third shift and hire an additional 877 workers.  The new jobs will bring total employment at the plant to more than 3,000 and add 20,000 vehicles to its 2012 capacity.     The additional jobs at the Hyundai plant also are expected to create new jobs at area suppliers.

Some are saying this is just a short term solution and that if Hyundai continues on the same path with growth in sales they will need to address the issue of building a second North American assembly plant. Time will tell.  But for now dealers will surely welcome the added inventory.

Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama, LLC (HMMA) began producing the newly redesigned Sonata in December 2009, and the sedan has consistently been Hyundai’s best-selling vehicle. The Alabama-built Sonata represents 33 percent of Hyundai’s U.S. sales. The newly redesigned Elantra has been assembled at HMMA since October 2010 and, together with production from Korea, represents 31 percent of Hyundai’s U.S. sales. Canadian sales of the Sonata and Elantra account for more than 14 percent of HMMA’s annual production.

Hyundai Motor America sales were up 20 percent during 2011. The announcement of additional U.S. production capacity comes as Hyundai’s U.S. sales broke an all-time sales record in March 2012. Through March 2012, sales of the Sonata and Elantra sedans have already seen year-over-year sales increase of six percent and eight percent, respectively, which is above the record levels set during 2011.

"Pegasus" - Tubular Framed 1984 Ford Mustang

We see some unique cars while out and about and this one is the latest to catch our eye.  Tom Reinhart of Nevada was visiting family in Utah recently when we spotted him cruising this hand crafted vehicle he calls "Pegasus".  This one of a kind winged horse is not from a kit, but instead is Tom's original design on a tubular framed 1984 Ford Mustang.
